Welcome to Cooking with Ruth...

I have always loved cooking and have never been afraid to try any new dishes or cuisine.  I have travelled extensively allowing me to taste many new dishes to recreate at home.

After living in London, I moved to Naples, Italy for 10 years with my family.  We travelled all over Italy and around much of Europe.  For my last two years there, I used my Italian friend, Pompilios hotel to cater themed nights for 60 Americans (big military bases in Naples) every second weekend.  Mexican was always very popular, I also did Thai, Indian, Lebanese, Moroccan and of course an Irish night for St Patricks Day! Pompilio and his family had many new experiences, helping to roll spring rolls one week to dolmades the next!

I returned to Ireland in January 2002 and completed the Certificate course at The Ballymaloe Cookery School.  I remained at the school as a tutor for two years until I moved back to Dublin to put my cookery skills to a different use.  I took up the position of Appliance Specialist with Houseworks who sold SieMatic kitchens.  I advised clients on their appliance needs, specializing in Gaggenau, Miele, Neff, Siemens and many more.  I held regular cookery demonstrations in the showrooms in Dublin, Belfast and Cork. 

After many happy years with Houseworks I started Cooking with Ruth in 2010 which has developed and allowed me to do what I love most, teaching people how easy it is to eat well and enjoy good food simply prepared.  I have joined up with The Triggerfish Cookshop in Blackrock where I hold regular cookery classes.
